Today I am going to review a stereo condenser microphone from a company called AudioTechnica a leading innovator in transducer technology, renowned for the design and manufacture of microphones, wireless microphones, headphones, mixers, and electronics for the audio industry. The PRO 24-CM Stereo Condenser Microphone costs about $99 USD and is available on B&H,AT and Amazon for the same price no matter where you get it. So not bad for the price but how does it perform? That’s what this review intends to show you, so read on….

The packaging, is a plastic box where the mic with attached cable is in a plastic tray also neatly packed inside is the instructions, carrying pouch, foam mic screen and mic holder for a camera hot shoe mount on amazon there is a picture of a “dead cat” mic windscreen but if you order from AT directly you will get everything I mentioned in the video below. On the box insert you will find for retail purposes pictures of the microphone and features and specifications of the PRO 24-CM Stereo Condenser Microphone
The Microphone does have an identifying mark on it which is AudioTechnica name towards the bottom of the mic where you will find the permanent cable connection there is also an on and off switch for the mic and a battery compartment if your camera doesn’t have the power in the 3.5 jack to power the mic
Just like my wireless mic set I just reviewed It took a lot of time and with tons of error to get used to this mic when I was recording some YouTube videos but one thing I found is you might need to play around with audio editing in Final Cut (or your preferred editor) afterwards to get a clean sound. As for capturing background audio I had a few neighbors outside talking and only some of this was picked up but if someone yells your name inside like a few rooms down then it’s just like the person is standing in the same room The mic would be perfect for trade show interviews in a hotel room or filming a stage interview where a wireless or podium mic connected to your camera wouldn’t be available, also it makes a good alternative to the Rode Video Mic Go
So yes this mic is priced and is the perfect size for any camera with a 3.5 mic jack. I didn’t have too much to complain about this mic I liked that it came with a carrying bag but unless you are filming a loud event or speaking in front of the camera like a vlog it might be a bit lower in audio and might come in only on one side as I experienced.
